An air cooled oil cooler is a heat exchange device used to remove excess heat from hydraulic oil or lubrication oil using ambient air. It works by circulating hot oil through a finned cooling core while a fan forces air across the fins to dissipate heat. Air cooled oil coolers are widely used in hydraulic systems, gearboxes, power packs, construction equipment, and industrial machinery to maintain safe oil temperature and improve equipment reliability.
An air cooled oil cooler works by transferring heat from hot oil to surrounding air. The hot oil flows through aluminum cooling tubes and fins inside the cooler core. A fan driven by an AC motor, DC motor, or hydraulic motor pushes air across the fins, removing heat from the oil. This process lowers the oil temperature and helps maintain optimal viscosity, preventing overheating in hydraulic and lubrication systems.
